10 days of Mexico
I have just come back from a 10 day holiday to Mexico with my family, and boy was it a good trip!
Day 1: The Day of Sleeping.

We left the house at 2:50 and travelled to Gatwick. After going through customs we explored the airport until our gate opened. During this time I had a breakfast that I fell in love with and saw Karen from the Apprentice as she walked past me. We then embarked on a 10 hour flight which was filled with film watching and sleeping. Once arriving to our hotel we ate and then slept the equivalent of 13 hours.
Day 2: The Day of Exploring.
After breakfast we took a walk outside of our resort and found a little market which was filled with local sales people and people selling tourist destinations. We then returned to our hotel and took a swim in the sea. The sea here is beautiful and warm (not like the awful sea in England); however appears to be full of seaweed. We also later took a stroll down the beach. We saw lots of hotels, and the most beautiful wedding!
Day 3: The Day of Culture
Okay so this day is called the day of culture and the first picture is Starbucks, but there is culture within this day. The name of the day came from the posing with the Mexican flag, an international themed dinner (the mash was bang on with its British authenticity) and the evening events. After dinner me and dad watched the evening entertainment of people singing karaoke of songs from their country; and later met some Mexicans who taught us a bit about their country and we taught them about ours- they were surprised that their lowest ever temperature 15°C was nothing on British weather!
Day 4: The Day of Shopping.

This was the day which we made our holiday purchases and spent those pesky Mexican pesos which were burning a whole in my dad's wallet. The magnet and maracas are the family's souvenirs; and the clothes were in the sale in Zara- yes I know I went all the way to Mexico to do some Zara sale shopping, but girls will be girls. While in the mall we saw the most beautiful Argentinian man on a market stall and if by magic the skies opened while he was in our presence- I would have married him right there and then. But seriously the rain really came down out of nowhere! And the thunder and lightening; where was that from?
Day 5: The Day of Relaxing.

This day could also be named the day of the 3 C's: chilling, coconuts and cocktails. As the name of the day suggests this day was spent on the beach: drinking cocktails, reading my book (The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul- which is definitely worth checking out!) and swimming in the sea. We sandwiched this day of relaxation between two very busy days to make sure we didn't get overtired on tomorrow's adventure.
Day 6: The Day of Sightseeing
.

This, as stated above, was our day of sightseeing, where we visited three beautiful sites: Ik Kil Sinkhole, Chichén Itzá and Valladolid. Ik Kil Sinkhole is an underground river which was beautiful water to swim in (but freeeeeezing)! Chichén Itzá is one of the seven wonders of the world, so was amazing to go and have a look at. Valladolid is the town which the Spanish conquered, with such a beautiful church (which is what is shown in the bottom picture). It was a great day out and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico.
Day 7: The Day of Fire.

This day was on fire, from the roasting fire in the sky to the fire show on the beach at night; although the main reason for this day being so hot was due to something happening back in England. This is because it was A' levels results day and my sister got her AS results; which were amazing and she was on fire with the results that she got- we're all so very proud of her! To get these results we had to invest in the hotel's WiFi, something which we try to avoid on holiday as we try to rid ourselves from stress. However, due to the day of WiFi and us being apart from it for so long, fire developed in our family while we squabbled for whose go it was.
Day 8: The Day of Swimming.

Although everyday, except the first and last, had the element of swimming in them, I named this day so because we spent the majority of the day in water. We started the day with a dip in the pool, which coincided with the session of aqua aerobics. This was very hard work, yet still fun. Later we went in the sea for a swim and found the usually calm sea was very rough, with high waves. These waves were so much fun that the whole of the beach got into the sea and were jumping the waves. (The picture of the sea was taken a lot later when the waves had really calmed so you don't quite get the image, but just imagine that I'm 5"2 and some of the waves were double my height!)
Day 9: The Day of Sport.
Before breakfast we hit the tennis courts! I know sport on holiday, in heat! But it was actually so much fun. The court was beautifully well kept and even had a place for the umpire to sit. We then went into the sea again, but this time with a ball and played catch in the sea; and then later played catch and piggie-in-the-middle on the sand. As you can see I have also incorporated images of two animals in this day, as these animals frequently roamed the hotel's grounds and this was the only day I got a picture of both of them. The first is a agouti (a tailless rodent) and the second a coati (a member of the raccoon family).
Day 10: The Day of Travelling.
Then came the sad day. The day to come back to England. We said goodbye to our friends and left the hotel on our way back to the airport. In duty free I bought this Desigual bag which is gooooorgeous! The only catch with this purchase is that I have to wait for my birthday to use it. Oh well! We then boarded our plane and waved goodbye to the Mexican shore, waiting to be greeted by England which waited 10 hours away...
Speak soon lovelies x
